Pilots, may I have you attention please!
We're over halfway through the Red Bull Paper Wings Australian Qualiflyers, and students across Australia have taken to the skies with their paper planes in the thousands.
We've had 21 Qualiflyers take place so far, from Cairns and Townsville, down through Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Canberra to Melbourne and right across to Perth via Adelaide.
We've seen planes of all shapes and sizes take off as pilots fold their way towards a chance at representing Australia at the Red Bull Paper Wings World Finals in Austria.
The current Australian records to beat are:
- Longest Distance: 43m
- Longest Airtime: 8.99 secs
In the Aerobatics, we've had some marvellous performances put on, and we'll put each Qualiflyer winner to a public vote from April 3rd to April 10th – so you can have your say! Our panel of experts will then judge each entry on the three areas of:
- Construction (technical) of the plane
- Creativity (art and design)
- Flight performance
Next week will see the final 7 events, in Perth, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane so you've still got you chance to fly, fold and win.
We look forward to announcing our Australian winners, who will represent us at the World Finals, very soon.
